I decided to look and experiement with James Welling photographs from his collection called Agriculutral works that he took for 2001-2003. These photos focus on different elements of farm life capturing different lightning and perspectives. When looking at his photos I was inspired to really look around my surroundings and take in different perspectives of things that I see in every day life. Welling has shown me that photography can be everywhere and be beneficial everywhere. You can pass by the same bushes or do an activity and not thinking anything of it but if you take a pictyure of it with certain lighting you can see the real beauty of that aspect.

- Emulating a Professional Photographer
I think this is my most successful image because I pass by these bushes every day and think nothing about it. I think they look ugly but looking at James Welling's photographs and everything that he captures I decided to take a picture of the bush. This opened my eyes that something you pass every day or think is ugly could create a beautiful picture. Seeing how the tan shreds of the bush come through the light and being able to see the background but have it blurry emphasizes the bush. The most challenging part of taking this picture was deciding what angle I wanted to take to picture from: head-on, from the bottom, or from the top. I chose head-on because the picture that I was trying to emulate was head-on and the lighting was good head-on. In the future, to create a stronger image I might get closer to the bush to focus on one aspect of it to get integrate details of the tan shreds of the bush. I enjoyed viewing Jessica Lavorgna's interpretation of Viviane Sassen's pictures. She really emphasized the important details of Sassen's pictures. I particularly liked the picture that she took of the painting. It shows the same importance and depiction of Sassen's photographs. I think Jessica did an excellent job emulating the photographs.
- Multimodal Presentation
The most fascinating thing about Lauren Greenfield's work is how she uses personal and candid photos to examine difficult societal topics while fusing documentaries with insightful social commentary. Her sustained commitment to her topics fosters a strong sense of integrity and empathy, enabling viewers to connect with her stories on an emotional level. In my future photography, this method pushes me to see past the obvious and concentrate on capturing the deeper stories and emotional realities of my subjects rather than merely taking aesthetically beautiful pictures. Her work demonstrates the storytelling potential of photography. Video link: https://youtu.be/ejPSXrix_GY I listened to and viewed Jessica Lavorgna's multimodal project. She did an amazing job talking about the different methods Mary Ellen Mark uses to take her pictures and why they are different from the rest of the photographs other people have taken. She was well articulated in describing the effect her photographs have on other people. I wonder why she only takes pictures in black and white instead of having monochrome colors. - Critiquing Photography
I believe this image is the best image I took for this assignment because I have never taken an image like this before. The viewer knows nothing about this girl and therefore can interpret what they see. This girl walking on campus could be going to class, going home, meeting friends, eating something, the viewer has no clue. I like that about this image, it leaves the viewer with their own story and questions. The most challenging aspect was creating the image to convey that mystery and being unable to see the girl's face or what she is wearing or holding. The photo had to be taken far enough that you could only see the outline of the girl but close enough that you could still see her. To create stronger images in the future I will use different aspects to highlight different things on the image to create more mystery and interpretation. Also, using different lighting allows the viewer to focus on different aspects. Student: Gabrielle Frasier Link: https://gabbiejf.wixsite.com/photographywithgf/portfolio I really enjoyed looking at your photos and your descriptions of them. I liked the most your aesthetically evaluative picture as it captures different colors and the essence of fall. One way to make your image better is to get closer to the tree to fully see the detail and coloration of the leaves falling off the trees. This picture draws my eye due to the colors and how beautiful it is.
